In 2019, I AM WATER won the prestigious Sport for Climate Action Collective Impact Award, supported by the Swedish Postcode Foundation. This award is for nonprofits using sport to address climate change, reduce emissions, and advocate for sustainable policy across the world. As one of six winners of Beyond Sports Sport for Climate Action Collective Impact Award, we’re dedicated to creating a healthy planet for future generations because the sports we love depend on a healthy planet for all.
To continue our work in creating a better planet, we have embarked on a collective campaign, under the “Sport for Climate Action Collective Impact” umbrella to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Global Goals and raise awareness about about sports being impacted by weather patterns changing, sea levels rising, and extreme weather conditions. You can find educational resources on environmental protection provided by AEG1Earth, I Am Water, Manta Sail Training Centre, Protect Our Winters (POW), World Sailing, Youth Service Organisation (YSO). Please amplify the experiences and impact of these amazing organizations and individuals who are leveraging sport for people and the planet by supporting I AM WATER to get more children in the ocean so that they can experience a safe, fun and challenging experience that makes them fall in love with the ocean so they can want to protect it. “We help children, who have feared or never experienced the ocean, to enjoy it for the first time, and to understand the importance of conservation.” Hanli Prinsloo
